It's back—the standout September highlight you won't want to miss. The Journées du Patrimoine return to Paris and in Île-de-France on 19 and 20 September 2026. This annual cultural event opens the doors to thousands of venues across the region, often for free. Museums, monuments, castles, ministries, churches, department stores, train stations, workshops, gardens and sports venues host activities and guided strolls, inviting us to discover their histories and distinctive features.
This great celebration of culture allows us to better appreciate the treasures to be found close to home, sometimes without us even knowing it! So, don't miss the Journées du Patrimoine in Île-de-France.
If you live in the Seine-et-Marne region , why not pay a visit to Thomery: the Château de Rosa Bonheur awaits you , with events and tours for the whole family.
Take this opportunity to admire the animal painter's château and studio, and enjoy the natural surroundings of the large park that surrounds the monument. Rosa Bonheur and her works are revealed during your visit, in a timeless, bucolic setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Conference: The furnishings of an artist's studio
This year, for European Heritage Days, we’re putting the spotlight on the furniture of an artist’s studio—a little-known heritage that, nonetheless, speaks volumes about the artist, her working methods, and daily life.
Rosa Bonheur’s studio furniture is far from accidental. Chosen by the artist herself, it was designed for practical use and also to fit naturally within this uniquely characterful workshop.
Students from La Bonne Graine, the Paris furniture-making school, have studied this furniture and its sometimes intricate objects, along with the crafts that made their creation and preservation possible.
We’re fortunate to host them at the château this year to share their work and passion with you. The day will be punctuated by a conference, hands-on workshops, and live demonstrations: a wonderful chance to view Rosa Bonheur’s furniture in a new light and to discover the trades and know-how behind these pieces.
Join a conference to explore the studio’s furniture, its history, its particularities, and what it reveals about Rosa Bonheur.

Workshops & Demonstrations - Arts & Crafts
This year, for Heritage Days, we’re highlighting the furniture of the artist’s workshop. A heritage that is still little known, yet says a great deal about the artist, their working method and daily life.
The workshop furniture of Rosa Bonheur is far from trivial. Chosen by the artist herself, it was designed to suit its use, but also to naturally find its place in this unusually distinctive atelier.
La Bonne Graine students, the Parisian school of furniture making, studied this furniture and these sometimes intricate objects, along with the know‑how that made their creation and conservation possible.
We’re lucky to welcome them this year to the château to share their work and passion with you. A conference, workshops and demonstrations will punctuate the day: a wonderful opportunity to view Rosa Bonheur’s furniture in a new light and to discover the trades and crafts behind these pieces.
