Behind this beautiful colonnaded architecture lies an artist's house, that of the painter Gustave Caillebotte. As a reminder, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) is the unmissable cultural event of the month of September, during which you can take advantage of numerous free visits, events and exceptional openings in places of all kinds that make up our heritage. This year, the event will celebrate its 42nd edition on the weekend of September 20-21, 2025. Museums, monuments, institutions, churches and much more will be unveiling their special programs in Paris and the surrounding region.
Self-guided tour of Parc Caillebotte's vegetable garden
Passionate about horticulture, Caillebotte frequently painted the vegetable garden. Spanning 1,700 m², it still features the original greenhouse and the sump mechanism. Today it is maintained by volunteers from the “Potager Caillebotte” association.

Visit to the Caillebotte House
Between 1860 and 1879, this house and its garden belonged to the Caillebotte family. It was here that Gustave Caillebotte pursued his art, producing more than 80 canvases.
The visit to the Caillebotte House, furnished as in the painter’s day thanks to the generosity of the “Friends of the Caillebotte Property” and the collections of the Mobilier National, will immerse you in the spirit of a late-19th-century seaside villa and offer a glimpse into the family’s life and passions. You’ll see the dining room and living room, the adjoining billiard room, all fully redecorated. The family bedroom, the centerpiece of the tour, has been restored with its original furnishings. The artist’s studio, now set up as a gallery space, regularly hosts original canvases by Caillebotte and his contemporaries (temporary exhibitions—please check dates). Finally, in the museum rooms you’ll follow the family’s history and the Property’s story, now regarded as one of the country’s premier Impressionist sites.
