Sad news for Disney fans! After nearly 30 years of activity on the Champs-Élysées, the Disney Store will close its doors permanently in May 2023. The closure is part of a process of reorientation of the firm's sales strategy, which now favors online sales. In total, some 40 employees could lose their jobs.

The magic of Disney leaves the Champs-Élysées! The great Disney Store on the most beautiful avenue in the world, the last one on French soil (except theme parks) will definitely close its doors in May 2023. This is what our colleagues fromactu.fr explain, indicating that they had the confirmation of the closure by an employee and the mayor LR of the 8th district, Jeanne d'Hauteserre.

A closure that was only a rumor last October, according to our colleagues in Le Parisien: " We have no information. We also heard the rumor, but nothing more," confessed one of the employees of the store. If, a year earlier, the multinational promised that the store would not be closed, the speech has changed today. " The firm Alixio Revitalia has been asked by Disney to find a buyer. The store has 44 employees on permanent contracts to be redeployed," reveals the mayor of the 8th arrondissement.

This event is in line with the operations carried out by the American company since March 2021: 60 Disney stores have already closed their doors in North America, and the movement continues in Europe. The goal: to favor online shopping, from the shopDisney sales site. Another reason: relatively expensive rents, and sales slowed by Covid and the Yellow Vests, among others.

The future of the store and its employees is therefore sealed. As for the Champs-Élysées, they will have to look for a new sign likely to attract as many tourists and buyers as the Disney Store. For the moment, there is no information on the sign that will take place there, but there is no doubt that the premises, on two floors, should find takers quickly.
