Kickoff: the 33rd edition of Pink October, the global campaign in the fight against breast cancer, is back. For a month, from October 1 to 31, 2026, everyone is invited to support research, get screened, and listen to the women who are fighting the disease. More than 70 countries participate in the Pink October initiative, which funds about 250 medical projects each year, backed by roughly $76 million raised worldwide.
Pink October is an essential event. Breast cancer " is the most common cancer in France, and the leading cause of cancer-related death in women ", says the Ligue contre le cancer. While significant progress has been made in medical research and quality of life for sufferers over the last few decades, it is absolutely essential to continue the fight against the disease.
One woman in eight is at risk of developing breast cancer. But it's not the only one: men are also affected by this disease, even if there are fewer of them. Every year, early detection saves thousands of lives.
We must therefore continue our research efforts and alert men and women to this cancer, which can affect people of any age: yes, 10% of breast cancer cases are in women under 35, and 1% in men. This year, let's be"All united by the same color" to fight the disease.
