The famous wings of the Moulin Rouge fell down last night in Paris. Between 2 and 3 a.m., the emblematic structure of this historic cabaret collapsed, taking with it the first three letters of its sign, "MOU", and the mill's wings.

It's a rude awakening this Thursday morning, and hard to believe, but the wings of the famous Moulin Rouge collapsed on the night of Wednesday April 24 to Thursday April 25, 2024.

Fortunately, no one was injured in this spectacular incident, according to the Paris fire department, which quickly secured the area. The debris was covered with green tarpaulins and a security perimeter was set up, restricting access to the site until the wings were completely evacuated at around 8 a.m.

The unexpected fall occurred in front of the cabaret, located on Boulevard de Clichy in Paris's 18th arrondissement. The front of the Moulin Rouge also sustained damage, although the structural integrity of the building remains intact, reassure the authorities.

The causes of this incident remain undetermined. However, it should be noted that this is the first time such a situation has occurred since the Moulin Rouge opened on October 6, 1889. The cabaret's technical management carries out weekly checks on the wing mechanisms, but so far no problems have been detected.

The cabaret reports, according to BFM, that the only major incident in the temple of cancan was a fire caused by construction work in 1915, which led to its closure for a period of nine years.

The cabaret, famous for its cancan shows and a meeting point for lively Parisian nights, was preparing to celebrate its 135th anniversary later this year. Please note that the Moulin Rouge has confirmed that it will continue to perform as planned.
