Strike action is scheduled for this Friday afternoon, October 10, 2025, at BHV Marais in Paris. The call has been issued bythe Paris department store's Intersyndicale (CFDT, CFTC, CFE-CGC, CGT and Sud Solidaires). The mobilization is scheduled to take place between 3pm and 6pm, with a rally and press conference.
The announcement of a partnership has set the wheels in motion. From November, the BHV Marais, one of Paris's leading department stores, is set to welcomeShein in a permanent corner on the 6th floor. More than 1,000m2 would be dedicated to the Chinese giant in Paris, and this would be a world first: while there have been pop-up stores, until now there has been no permanent Shein store anywhere in the world. This first opening was to be followed by other stands within Galeries Lafayette in 5 other French cities.
The arrival of this ultra-fast-fashion giant would, according to the union, "threaten the short-term survival of the department store, which is already in serious difficulty". A number of French brands have also decided to leave the department store to express their disagreement with the partnership , and a petition has been launched against the chain's arrival at BHV.
