Heads up if you were planning to take the metro this Tuesday, especially on lines 1, 2, 6 or 11. At the request of the Paris Police Prefecture, access to four metro stations will be closed on June 30, 2026. Here’s what you need to know.

This summer, users of the Parisian and Île-de-France public transport networks will have to adapt to a large number of planned underground works. This is notably the case on the RER A, B and C, but also on metro lines 4, 8, 12 and 13.

As every summer, public transport in Paris and Île-de-France will be disrupted due to major modernization works. Unfortunately for users, these works are expected to affect the metro, RER, and tramway. Check out the detailed schedule and dates for these works, which are planned for June, July, and August 2026 on the RATP and SNCF networks. [Read more]

Traffic can also be disrupted due to sports, cultural events, ceremonies, or state visits, at the request of the Préfecture de police de Paris. That’s exactly what awaits users of quatre lignes du métro parisien this Tuesday.

Access to four metro stations closed on Tuesday, June 30

As of June 30, 2026, four metro stations are shut due to "security measures requested by the Prefecture of Police," according to the RATP on its website. Specifically, the access to Argentine station (line 1), Charles de Gaulle–Étoile (lines 1, 2 and 6), and George V (line 1) are closed this Tuesday. "Transfers within the station will be impossible," the RATP notes. On the RER A, the Charles de Gaulle–Étoile station is also affected by this disruption.

Additionally, this Tuesday from 9:30 a.m., access to the Hôtel de Ville station (lines 1 and 11) will also be closed, with transfers at the station likewise impossible.

But then, why are these four stations closed to users on June 30? In an order published by the Paris Police Prefecture, it states that Maha Vajiralongkorn, the King of Thailand — commonly known as Rama X — and his wife Queen Suthida are conducting a state visit to France from June 28 to July 1, 2026. On June 30, they will notably head to the Arc de Triomphe “to attend the ceremonial relighting of the flame.” They will also travel that same day to the Hotel de Ville and will undertake a boat cruise on the Seine, the Paris Police Prefecture adds.
