Nuit des Musées 2025 at the Musée de la Toile de Jouy (78): the program

The Toile de Jouy may sound familiar, but do you really know what it is? Take advantage of the 21st Nuit des Musées to get to know this piece of Yvelines heritage. Head for the Musée de la Toile de Jouy on Saturday, May 17, 2025, for an evening of unusual discoveries.

This unusual museum reveals all the secrets behind the cotton fabrics printed in Jouy-en-Josas, from 1765 to 1843, at the Oberkampf fabric factory. The museum displays printed fabrics and all the equipment used to print them, as well as the antique designs used to create the characteristic Jouy fabrics, with their red or violet motifs on an ecru or bistre background. Today, the museum houses over 10,000 relics of this period.

The museum is also worth a visit for its architecture: located in the Château de l'Eglantine, this 19th-century building has had a chaotic history, and today displays a wide variety of styles.
