The Fête de la Musique, the groovy event par excellence, makes every street corner vibrate on June 21, the day when summer finally (finally!) shows its face. Conceived in 1982 by Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, the festival was born of a crazy idea: to offer everyone, pros and amateurs alike, an open-air stage. From Paris to the beaches of Rio, this musical tsunami gets the world dancing, transforming cities into giant dance floors. In the City of Light, the streets come alive as soon as night falls, with stages popping up as if by magic in the most unlikely corners: from squares to boulevards, from bars to public squares. It's a veritable musical marathon, with every district resonating to the rhythm of local artists and over-the-top DJ sets. Whatever your style, from rock to jazz to electro, the Fête de la Musique is your VIP pass for a night of frenzied decibels.
Once again this year, the American Cathedral of Paris is part of the party! Inaugurated in 1886 onAvenue George V, a stone's throw from the Champs-Élysées, and listed as a historic monument since 1997, the church is reserved for Anglican worship. With its imposing volumes and Neo-Gothic style, the American Cathedral is often the scene of prestigious events on the Parisian scene, including Fashion Week.
Join us for the Evensong Chorale, a service unique to Anglican worship, rooted in the musical traditions of 16th-century England. Sung by the Cathedral's talented choir and accompanied by talented musicians on our Cavaillé-Coll organ.
