The Fête de la musique is back all over France on Saturday June 21, 2025. As every year, this popular and festive event is an opportunity to enjoy numerous free concerts and DJ sets. In Paris, there's no shortage of musical events, with concerts organized in the streets, squares, parks and gardens, quaysides, bars and restaurants, museums and churches, as well as in some unusual locations.
The country's first Fête de la Musique took place in 1982. The event was the brainchild of Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon, architect-scenographer and cabinet member. Their idea? To launch a major popular event enabling all musicians to play and make a name for themselves during a festive evening.
And it's been a huge success for over 40 years now! Every June 21, budding musicians and singers take to the streets to bring the music alive. Rock, rap, pop, electro, reggae, classical, zouk, funk, metal, French variety, blues and jazz are all on the bill...
If you're looking for traditional Japanese music this year, then you're in for a treat. The Paris Sanshin Club has teamed up with the folk group Yui no Ne, from the island of Miyako-jima, to offer you a unique musical experience. An opportunity to discover the folk songs of Miyako-jima and to immerse yourself in the islands of Okinawa to the rhythm of traditional Japanese sounds. Join us on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 6 p.m. on Place de Kyoto, in the 15th arrondissement, to experience this moment! The Paris Sanshin Club will also be at the Maison de la Culture du Japon earlier on June 21.
