Fête de la musique 2025 in Paris: J-pop concert in a 5th arrondissement gallery

The Fête de la musique is back all over France on Saturday, June 21, 2025. For one whole day, come and celebrate living music in all its forms. Rock, rap, electro, jazz, funk, zouk, reggae, metal, classical and hip-hop... On this day, all kinds of music are in the spotlight!

The first Fête de la Musique was launched in 1982 on the initiative of the French Ministry of Culture. That year, the Ministry of Culture's studies and research department conducted a major survey of French cultural practices. It revealed that five million people, including one young person in two, play a musical instrument. So Jack Lang, architect and scenographer Christian Dupavillon, a member of his Cabinet, and Maurice Fleuret came up with the idea of a major popular event to enable all musicians to express themselves and make themselves known. The very first Fête de la Musique was launched on June 21 1982, the symbolic day of the summer solstice.

Since then, the event has been celebrated every year on June 21. On that day, there's plenty to choose from in Paris. There are, of course, the must-see events, such as the free concerts by France Inter at theOlympia, the electro festival on the square in front of the 15th arrondissement town hall, or the special day offered by the Ministry of Culture in the gardens of the Palais-Royal. There are also plenty of unusual concerts. Looking for something unusual? Why not come and vibrate to the rhythm of J-pop this year? For several years now, J-pop, short for Japanese pop, has been attracting a growing number of curious onlookers and fans.

This Saturday, June 21, 2025, for the Fête de la musique, a Parisian gallery has decided to honor this musical style. Head for the Kurokami gallery, in the capital's 5th arrondissement, for a free concert featuring After 5 and Naoko.
