There's less than a year to go until the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and while the announcements are gathering pace, the organization is also starting to take shape. To ensure that everything is feasible and to anticipate any problems that may arise, a number of full-scale tests are being carried out in the run-up to the Games. In mid-July, Parisians were able to enjoy a foretaste of the parade of boats for theopening ceremony on the Seine, with some 50 boats, in order to test the flow and logistics. In August, two Olympic trials will take place, and you'll be able to watch them!
If you haven't been able to find affordable tickets, at least you'll have the opportunity to watch some of the events for free in the capital. Several events will be open to the public, without reserved seats, on long courses. On August 5 and 6, 2023, the marathon swimming event in the Seine will be tested thanks to the Paris leg of the World Aquatics Marathon Swim World Series. The public will be able to catch a glimpse of the swimmers between Pont Alexandre III and Pont des Invalides from 7.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on August 5 for the women's 10 km and on August 6 for the men's 10 km. The aim is also to test the river's water quality.
