The decision has just come down, this Friday, December 29, 2023: after much debate, the administrative court has finally accepted the requisition of student accommodation from the Crous de Paris.

Recently, it was the subject that had been much in the news around the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: in May 2023, the Ministry of Sports announced that it wanted to requisition over 3,000 student accommodation units in the Ile-de-France region, all managed by the Centre régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires (Crous) de Paris. The Crous had set a June 30, 2024 deadline for each lease, but the Paris Administrative Court decided to suspend the order at the start of the new academic year in September, as part of a legal procedure initiated by the Solidaires trade union.

Finally, on Friday December 29, 2023, the Conseil d'Etat made its decision public and validated the end of leases set for June 30, 2024, in order to requisition student housing to accommodate Olympic and Paralympic Games personnel. This includes firefighters, nurses, paramedics, law enforcement and civil security personnel, who will be housed temporarily in Crous accommodation. As a result of this decision, over 2,000 Crous students should be rehoused and receive an allowance of €100, as well as two free places to attend the Olympic Games. To be continued.
