Saint Patrick 2024: the first Irish Week arrives in Paris

The rich and beautiful Irish culture comes to Paris from March 11 to 18, 2024, for the very first "Ireland Week". On the program? Art, cinema, music, a major St. Patrick's Day festival at the Irish Cultural Centre, an immersive experience at Beaugrenelle, not to mention concerts in the streets of the capital. So, are you ready to embark on a week-long discovery of the Emerald Isle's culture?

After Italy and Spain,Ireland is coming to France! Around the famous Saint Patrick's Day, celebrated on March 17,"Ireland Week" arrives in France, and more particularly in Paris from March 11 to 18, 2024. For exactly 8 days, the culture of this sublime European country takes over the capital with a series of diverse and varied events.

On the program? Music, with the Belfast Traditional Music Trail taking to the streets of Paris for three days, as well as the 7th art, with film screenings at Les 3 Luxembourg cinema and the Irish Cultural Centre. The same cultural center, located in the Latin Quarter, will also host the 10-day St. Patrick's Day festival, with a host of events of all kinds.

We're not forgetting art, with an exhibition featuring a selection of photographs from the"Old Ireland in Colour" collections, Irish gastronomy and even travel, with an original immersion tour of some of the Emerald Isle's most beautiful sites announced at Beaugrenelle , all orchestrated by Irish Tourism.

Irish Week in Paris, the program

Film festival

Ireland's 7th art is in the spotlight during this"Week of Ireland", with a series of films and documentaries. (Re)discover the destiny of the incredible artist Sinéad O' Connor at a free screening (subject to availability) at Les 3 Luxembourg cinema on Tuesday March 12 at 6pm. The icing on the cake will be the presence of director Kathryn Ferguson.

Other cinematic highlights (available on reservation) are to be discovered in Paris during this"Semaine de l'Irlande", including " My Sailor, My Love ", also at Les 3 Luxembourg on Tuesday March 12 at 8:30pm, and " It's a Fine Thing to Sing " at the Centre Culturel Irlandais on Wednesday March 13 at 7:30pm.

And let's not forget the documentary " Around My Island " , retracing the fascinating story of Tom Dolan. Don't miss it on Monday March 18 at 7:30pm (reservation required) at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, in the presence of the sailor.

Photo exhibition

Forart lovers, and more particularly photography enthusiasts, head to the Centre Culturel Irlandais from March 8, 2024, to admire a selection of photographs from the"Old Ireland in Colour" collections. These photographs, which take us back in time to scenes of daily life in Ireland in the 19th and 20th centuries, can be admired at the Irish Cultural Centre every day from 2pm to 6pm until April 21, 2024.

St. Patrick's Day Festival

For its part, the Centre Culturel Irlandais, located in the famous Latin Quarter, offers 11 days of festivities with its St. Patrick's Day Festival. Featuring cinema, music, theater, art and family activities, Saint Patrick's Day promises to be a colorful affair in the 5th arrondissement!

Immersion in Northern Ireland

Ireland Week" also invites you to Beaugrenelle Paris. Head for the famous shopping center in the 15th arrondissement, from Monday March 11 to Sunday March 17, 2024, to discover an immersive window. For one week, this installation awaits young and old to take them on a journey to Northern Ireland, to discover the filming locations of the Game of Thrones series, but also the famous landscapes of the Giant's Causeway or an introduction to dancing in the streets of Belfast. Although advertised as a visual experience, it is also complemented by an audio broadcast.

Another not-to-be-missed event at Beaugrenelle during"Ireland Week"? The presence of dancers from the Belfast Traditional Music Trail company. Present throughout the weekend, they will be offering several traditional Irish dance performances in the mall.

Irish concerts in the streets of Paris

Music is also at the heart of this"Week of Ireland", with a bus touring the streets of Paris, with the Belfast Traditional Music Trail troupe on board. On March 13, 14 and 15, the bus, decked out in the colors of Ireland, plans to stop off at a number of the capital's most emblematic sites (Champs-Élysées, Gare Montparnasse, Tuileries, Quartier latin, etc.), to meet passers-by and thrill them with mini-concerts and traditional Irish dance sessions.

Irish culture in all its forms comes to Paris from March 11 to 18, 2024, with this"Irish Week", which promises to be both festive and convivial, just like the Irish!
