Jean-Luc Godard, turns and detours: the retrospective at the Centre Pompidou

The representative filmmaker of the New Wave, who died in September 2022, is the subject of a retrospective at the Centre Pompidou, from March 17 to 20. The director's most experimental films will be screened.

Jean-Luc Godard is probably the most famous French filmmaker in the world. Author of numerous films that have gone down in cinema history(Pierrot le Fou, Le Mépris, A bout de souffle, etc.), he has also spent his career trying to break the aesthetic codes of cinema by attempting new forms. A great experimental director, it is this aspect of his career that is celebrated in the retrospective Jean-Luc Godard, tours et détours, from March 17 to 20, 2023 at the Centre Pompidou .

It is mainly short films that will be screened in six cycles: Origin, childhood; Being alone, being two, being several; Impression, expression, creation; Lights and darkness; Going, returns; En finir et continuer.
