We're getting closer to the end, and this penultimate episode gives us a nice preview. The eighth chapter of The Last of Us is available since this Monday, March 6 on Amazon Prime Video, and it proves once again that this is a great series.

In this new adventure, we discover that Joel and Ellie's attackers, met inepisode 6, were part of a much larger group. And since the one who stabbed Joel is dead, the other members of this community want revenge. With Joel at his worst, Ellie has to survive on her own.

The first thing that surprised us when we saw this episode was its director, Ali Abbasi. Danish of Iranian origin, this filmmaker is notably known from the Cannes Film Festival, where he presented several films, Border, in 2018, and The Nights of Mashhad this year. He is an excellent director, and this can be felt in The Last of Us, where his direction impresses. That's not all, the writing of this segment is also to be praised, as it is the best of the series so far. Full of tension, and yet without any infected, this eighth episode is one of the best because it is truly terrifying.

By putting Ellie in an unprecedented situation, the character is pushed to the limit and reveals a rage that we had never known him. Moreover, it proves once again that in The Last of Us, it's not the infected that worry us the most, but the humans, capable of much worse atrocities.

We can't wait for the end of the series, scheduled for Monday March 13, with the ninth and last episode of this first season. The second one is already in the pipeline.
