Preparations for House of the Dragon season 2 began in April at Leavesden Studios in the UK. Inspired by George R.R. Martin's "Fire and Blood" novels, the series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, explores the ancestry of House Targaryen. Building on the success of its first season, the second season is revealed through a thrilling first trailer and an official release date.

The series promises to captivate viewers with Westeros on the brink of civil war between Team Green and Team Black. These rival factions, led respectively by King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra, vie for the legitimacy of the Iron Throne. The trailers offer two complementary perspectives on this internal struggle, encouraging fans to "pick a side".
Season 2's cast includes welcome returns from Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, and Emma D'Arcy, as well as new faces Abubakar Salim, Gayle Rankin, and Freddie Fox, among others. This season, adapted from the novel by George R.R. Martin, will continue to weave the complex history of House Targaryen.
With George R.R. Martin as co-creator and executive producer, alongside Ryan Condal, House of the Dragon Season 2 promises to be an epic exploration of the roots of power, loyalty and family, at the heart of the Game of Thrones universe.
