It's all happening in Seoul! Kim Jee-woon's new film Cobweb, starring Song Kang-ho, was screened Hors-Compétition at the Cannes Film Festival 2023. The film will be released in cinemas on November 8, 2023.

It's all happening in Seoul! (formerly Dans la Toile, or Cobweb, in its international title), directed by Kim Jee-woon and starring Song Kang-ho(Parasite, Les Bonnes Étoiles), was presented Out of Competition at the Cannes Film Festival. This comedy, due in cinemas from November 8, 2023, follows the adventures of a director obsessed by the end of his film and determined to remake it.

The teaser for Ça tourne à Séoul! :

Set in Seoul in 1970, the story revolves around Kim, a director dissatisfied with the conclusion of his work entitled "Cobweb". Despite obstacles and interference from the censorship authorities, disgruntled actors and producers, Kim is determined to rework the ending of his film in just two days, in the hope of turning it into a masterpiece.

More accustomed to horror films and thrillers, it's surprising to find Kim Jee-woon at the helm of a comedy. And yet, Ça tourne à Séoul! is a great success. Hilarious from start to finish, the film is literally carried along by its star, Song Kang-ho, who plays this slightly dictatorial director, named after the film's real director, Kim. Cobweb tells the story of the making of Cobweb, by a director of the same name! The autobiographical symbolism is barely concealed. Like Nanni Moretti and Michel Gondry - also at Cannes for their film - Kim Jee-woon introspects on his own work, but unlike his two colleagues, the Korean has a lot of fun staging the chaos of his film set, and showing the film within the film. And that's surprising! You'd almost want to see both features independently.

Ça tourne à Séoul ! is a light-heartedcomedy, in which the clandestine nature of the film set pushes all the characters into the most absurd situations. The result is an anarchy where nothing goes according to plan, but which exudes a love of cinema and its craft.
