Hong Sang-soo's "De nos jours..." will be presented as the closing film at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes at the Cannes Film Festival 2023. This ode to life, in which the Korean master explores the pleasures of the table, music and idleness, is due in cinemas on July 19, 2023.

The closing film of the Cannes Film Festival 2023's Quinzaine des Cinéastes , De nos jours..., is the creation of director Hong Sang-soo. This dramatic comedy promises a unique cinematic experience in which the Korean master celebrates the pleasures of life around a table, including tobacco,alcohol, food, music andidleness. Actors Ju-Bong Gi and Kim Min-Hee star in this captivating film.

Hong Sang-soo, winner of the Un Certain Regard prize at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival for his film HA HA HA, is a talented South Korean director. Born into a family with ties to the film industry, he discovered his passion for cinema while watching Hollywood films on television. Over the years, he has developed a unique narrative style and aesthetic all his own.

Hong Sang-soo's early feature films, such as The Day the Pig Fell in the Well (1996) and The Power of Kangwon Province (1998), won critical acclaim and several awards at international festivals. His films explore relationships and existential questions, skilfully blending poetry and triviality, melancholy and humor.

Over the years, Hong Sang-soo has continued to make acclaimed films, such as Night and Day (2008) and HA HA HA (2010), which won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes. He has also collaborated with actress Isabelle Huppert in films such as In Another Country (2012) and La Caméra de Claire (2017). The director likes to explore the themes of falling in love, discovering the other and conflicting relationships.

De nos jours... is an eagerly-awaited film by Hong Sang-soo, which closed the Cannes Film Festival 2023 Directors' Fortnight selection in style.
