Limbo trailer

In sumptuous black and white, the director films a veteran cop with nothing left to lose, and his young superior, on a merciless hunt for a serial killer who preys on women, systematically leaving their bodies with one hand amputated. In a dilapidated Hong Kong, where the Apocalypse seems to have ravaged everything, the atmosphere is chilling, whether in black and white or in the torrential downpours that punctuate the film. And, of course, violence is omnipresent. This is especially true of the character of Cham Lau, a cop who has seen too much, who's on the verge of illegality, and who doesn't hesitate to get his feet wet to further his investigation.

This is the kind of noir thriller where the investigators are no better than the criminals they're after. It's an investigation à la Seven, generous and violent, which assumes the role of a pure, ultra-stylised thriller. In fact, it's a visual delight, systematically thrilling. The viewer will remember above all the incredible central sequence of a double chase, where the blood pressure meter goes into overdrive, much to our delight. A film that packs a punch, but not the only one. If you like to hang on to your seat, breathless, you'll love Limbo.
