After the success of Hippocrate, Médecin de Campagne and Première Année, filmmaker Thomas Lilti leaves medicine for teaching with Un Métier Sérieux. The film airs on Canal+ this Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

In his latest creation, Thomas Lilti, the filmmaker behind Hippocrate, Médecin de Campagne and Première Année, shifts his focus. Having explored the medical world, the director now turns to the world of teaching, depicting the trials and passions of this vocation.

The film, broadcast on Canal+ this Tuesday, April 23, 2024, features a dazzling cast, including Vincent Lacoste, François Cluzet, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Louise Bourgoin, William Lebghil, Lucie Zhang and Bouli Lanners. A five-star cast!

The trailer introduces us to the characters of Pierre, Meriem, Fouad, Sophie, Sandrine, Alix and Sofiane, a group of committed, close-knit teachers who will welcome Benjamin, played by Vincent Lacoste, a young, inexperienced substitute teacher.

As the plot unfolds, Benjamin comes face to face with the challenges of the profession, highlighting the vitality of a passion for teaching despite an often fragile institution. Thomas Lilti 's vision of the French education system is reminiscent of his sensitive, hard-hitting take on the medical world in Hippocrate. If you've seen that film, you'll find many similarities with Un Métier Sérieux, which also looks at a difficult profession through the eyes of a novice, again played by Vincent Lacoste.

And both films are equally successful. Thomas Lilti has carved out a place for himself in the register of popular comedy set against a backdrop of social drama (which he shares with the duo Toledano / Nakache), and like his previous productions, Un Métier Sérieux takes an alert but not humorless look at the beauty of a profession that has been battered, and whose stakes we learn to grasp. The good times and the bad.

The whole thing is, of course, served up by a magnificent score from the incredible cast. With names like these, it would have been hard to miss, but François Cluzet's stunning entrance, in his first screen appearance, should be noted. It's hilarious, and proves that the actor hasn't lost any of his superb talent. We'll let you discover it for yourself.
