One Piece: season 2 finally announced by Netflix and Eiichiro Oda, and we'll have to be patient

Fans have been waiting with bated breath for season 2 of the live-action adaptation of the One Piece manga to get a sequel! The announcement was made by the manga's author, Eiichiro Oda, in a short video.

It's finally official! One Piece season 2 is just around the corner. After the success of season 1 of the live adaptation of the manga on Netflix, all fans have been waiting for the announcement. And although it's been a long time coming, the platform has finally made the series renewal official on its social networks, via a short video recorded by Eiichiro Oda, the author of the most popular manga in history.

In addition to exciting us with this tantalizing announcement, Oda also offers us a major surprise, teasing the arrival of a new character adored by fans, Tony Tony Chopper. The mangaka states: "The Straw Hats are going to need a doctor", before drawing the cutest character in the series.

As the series' creators had indicated, they didn't wait for confirmation and have already begun pre-production work on season 2. According to them, it could arrive on Netflix within 12 to 18 months, and could be followed by a dozen more, if successful. The challenge will be enormous for this new adventure, which will require even more special effects!
