Filmed for years by his best friend Théodore Bonnet, Squeezie, France's number 1 youtuber, is about to reveal his life as no one has ever seen it before. The Merci Internet documentary series will be available on Prime Video from January 19.
Like Montre jamais ça à personne, the documentary series about Orelsan, Merci Internet promises to reveal a much more private side of Squeezie's life, filmed from the start by Théodore Bonnet. These images will be accompanied by interviews with Internet celebrities, but not only. The trailer features interviews with Mister V, McFly and Carlito, Orelsan and Lena Situations.
With 18 million subscribers on YouTube, Squeezie is the most followed video artist in France, and his every appearance unleashes the crowds. The author of numerous projects, each more different than the last (music, events, broadcasts, etc.), Squeezie is now one of the key personalities of the 2020s, and Merci Internet will trace this exceptional career.
Our opinion on Merci Internet:
Whether you know Squeezie or not, you're about to discover lots of little-known details about the life of France's number 1 YouTubeur. From his youth and family to his day-to-day life, the behind-the-scenes aspects of his work and the downsides of success, Merci Internet tackles a wide range of themes throughout its five 40-minute episodes. The series is aimed at a wide audience, accessible to all ages. And while Squeezie's journey is fascinating, it's a shame that his beginnings aren't more present, like Ne montre jamais ça à personne, the other documentary to which Merci Internet is much compared. Of the five episodes, three focus on the 2020s, even though Squeezie has been on YouTube since 2011.
But the series remains touching, especially when we get to know those closest to Squeezie, especially his parents. His relationship with his father is very different from that with his mother. With his mother, the relationship was often conflictual, and their mutual love, with great restraint, reflects years of cold war. The passages that develop their relationship are very moving, as are the videographer's great achievements, which we rediscover: the GP Explorer, the Gentlemates Esport team, and many others. The possibility of a season 2 has been suggested, but it won't happen for a few years, to give Squeezie and Théodort Bonnet time to document their new adventures.
