Viggo Mortensen takes on the roles of director, screenwriter and lead actor in Jusqu'au Bout du Monde, a film that promises to leave a lasting impression. Vicky Krieps, famous for her role in Phantom Thread, plays Vivienne Le Coudy, a pioneer of the American West, while Solly McLeod, known for The Rising, plays Weston, a character who promises to be complex and tumultuous.
Jusqu'au Bout du Monde transports us to the American West of the 1860s, where Vivienne Le Coudy(Vicky Krieps) meets Holger Olsen(Viggo Mortensen), a Danish immigrant. Together, they settle in Nevada, but the Civil War turns their lives upside down. Vivienne finds herself confronted by loneliness and the dangers represented by Rudolph Schiller(Danny Huston), the corrupt mayor, and Alfred Jeffries(Garret Dillahunt), a wealthy landowner. Olsen's return after the war forces them to rediscover and accept each other in their new realities.
Jusqu'au Bout du Monde should distinguish itself by its emotional narrative and meticulous aesthetics. The film is expected to recreate, with authenticity, the era of the conquest of the West. Viggo Mortensen should once again demonstrate his skill not only in front of, but also behind the camera, offering a singular and captivating vision of this historic period.
