Have you always wanted to play the cowboy? Want to find out if you can shoot faster than the speed of light like Lucky Luke? Then head for PAN, the capital's first virtual shooting bar offering a rifle-shooting experience where visitors (aged 16 and over), equipped with authentic weapons (but not loaded, rest assured, it's all digital...), can test their accuracy and speed in semi-privatised lounges.
The concept is based on eight distinct universes, including scenarios inspired by Ball-Trap and the Far West. Shooting enthusiasts will be able to take aim at moving or static targets, according to the different themes on offer. The Ball-Trap principle, for example, challenges participants to hit moving clay trays, while the Far West -inspired settings reproduce classic scenes with glass bottles and other traditional elements.
The interior design was entrusted to the architectural firm Razzle Dazzle, known for its work at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle and Galeries Lafayette. On the restaurant side, the menu was devised by chef Alexandre Lucas, featuring dishes such as truffle stracciatella and wasabi swordfish toast. " We're delighted to be launching the very first shooting bar in Paris, an innovative concept that combines the adrenalin of shooting with the conviviality of a bar," explains David Musset, president of PAN (and incidentally the creator of Hint Hunt escape games).
But be warned: PAN is not for everyone. The experience is forbidden to under-16s, for obvious reasons, but also because the weapons are heavy. So, if you're curious or already a keen sports shooter, give it a try.
Our Take on PAN:
So, what’s the verdict on PAN, the capital’s very first rifle shooting bar? Initially, before visiting, we were pretty skeptical: a shooting bar, even for leisure, at a time when global tensions, shootings, and current events are all heating up... Not exactly the best concept to launch right now. But we couldn’t have been more wrong (lesson learned: don’t judge too quickly!).
The concept is actually incredibly well-executed, starting with a stylish decor that’s understated, fairly neutral, and calming... quite the opposite of the shooting activity itself. It creates a striking contrast, and it works. As for the bar, that’s another pleasant surprise: you can come just for a drink or book a booth and try your hand at shooting, and the menu, seemingly simple at first glance, delivers with surgical precision—sharp and impactful.
It’s not exactly the Ritz, of course... But for a bar, the quality is quite premium. The prices follow suit... expect to pay around €21 for a 500g breaded Livarot cheese (any cheese lovers here?), €12 for stracciatella, €14 for a trio of mini-burgers, or €8 for guacamole. It’s a bit steep.
When it comes to drinks, the cocktails hit the mark. We particularly enjoyed the Espresso Martini, crafted to perfection, and the solid selection of beers from L.B.F.. Always a safe bet... And if you’re tempted to splash out on a bottle of Champagne, that’s also an option (we didn’t, but the bill might make you think twice).
As for the rifle shooting activity, it’s genuinely engaging and designed so that it never feels voyeuristic or violent. It’s all in good fun—shooting at bottles or trays launched into the air (real ball-trap style, we’re told!), with several mini-games to keep things fresh and avoid routine.
However, a word of caution: it involves a real firearm, modified for digital shooting—yet still a genuine weapon, and not a lightweight one! It’s worth doing some bicep curls beforehand to arm yourself... Also, note that you never shoot living beings—no animals, humans, zombies, or anything of the sort. The establishment’s choice is not accidental and highlights the seriousness behind the concept.
Ultimately, for us, it was a fantastic experience—friendly, fun, and lively (we played two rounds against other media outlets and came out on top both times...). That’s all that matters! Now, it’s your turn to form your own opinion.
With this opening, PAN introduces a new type of leisure activity to Paris. It's an opportunity to discover shooting from a different angle than that of films or sports shooting during the Olympic Games.
