The traditional Cannes Festival 2025 press conference took place on Thursday April 10. Thierry Frémaux launched the festivities by unveiling the feature films that will be presented to festival-goers from May 13 to 24.
French actress Romane Bohringer, daughter of Richard Bohringer, will present her second feature film, Dites-lui que je l'aime, in a special screening. It is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Clémentine Autain, published in 2019. A book dedicated to her mother, Dominique Laffin, in which Clémentine Autain talks about their relationship and her early grief over the death of her mother, who died in 1985.
"Dites-lui que je l'aime was the title of a film by Claude Miller, starring Dominique Laffin. It became the title of a book by Clémentine Autain, the daughter of Dominique Laffin and Yvan Dautin, who followed in her mother's footsteps. And it inspired Romane Bohringer to follow in her mother's footsteps. A story of two women from the 70s, two female comets, two female artists," explains Thierry Frémaux, general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival.
The cast includes Romane Bohringer, Philippe Rebbot and Clémentine Autain herself.
Dites-lui que je l'aime will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The release date in French cinemas is not yet known.
Synopsis: Romane decides to adapt Clémentine Autain's book about her mother for the cinema. This project will force her to confront her past and her own mother, who abandoned her when she was nine months old.
