The cinephile's world tour continues! After Critics' Week,Acid and the Official Selection, it's now the turn of the Directors' Fortnight to unveil its 2025 selection. The result? 18 hand-picked feature films, selected from over 1,600 entries.
Among them, a horror film! And this is rare enough at the Cannes Film Festival to merit a mention. Behind Dangerous Animals is Sean Byrne, whose previous films include The Loved Ones and The Devil's Candy - also both horror films.
The Quinzaine des Cinéastes ' verdict: "This year, we're offering a special genre screening, with a horror survival film set at sea: the new film by Australian Sean Byrne, director of Dangerous Animals. Byrne has made two acclaimed genre films. This time, it's a survival film with young surfers, a serial killer and sharks. It's going to be a bloodbath on the Croisette!
Dangerous Animals will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The film will be released in French cinemas on July 23, 2025.
Synopsis: Zephyr, an intrepid, free-spirited surfer, is kidnapped by a serial killer obsessed with sharks. Sequestered on her boat and confronted with the madness of her captor, she must fight to survive against all predators...
