The Cannes Première selection, launched in 2021, is an elegant showcase for films that combine artistic ambition with audience appeal. Unlike the official competition, Cannes Première focuses more on discoveries, with no major prize at stake, offering directors a high profile while maintaining the richness and diversity of the Cannes selection.
This year, 8 films join the eagerly awaited Cannes Première selection. Among them is The Love that Remains by Hlynur Pálmason, Ástin Sem Eftir Er in the original version. The Icelandic director is no stranger to the Croisette, having presented his feature film Un jour si blanc at Critics' Week during the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
His next film, Godland, was part of the Un Certain Regard selection at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, and won the Grand Prix du Jury de la Palme Dog.
The Love that Remains will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The film’s official release date in French theaters has not yet been announced.
Synopsis : A poignant look at a family navigating a year of change as the parents go through a separation.
