Get your donuts! Springfield returns to the big screen - get ready to plunge into America's yellowest, craziest chaos! Twenty years after The Simpsons Movie (2007), Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie will be back on the big screen on July 23, 2027, under the banner of Disney and 20th Century Studios.
A first poster posted on Instagram already sets the tone: a pink donut stuffed with nuggets in the shape of a "2", accompanied by the slogan "Homer comes back for more". The patriarch's clumsiness and Springfield's wacky adventures will be on display.
Created in 1989 by Matt Groening, The Simpsons is the longest-running animated series in television history. Currently in its 37th season, the series will soon reach its 800th episode in early 2026, and has been renewed until the 40th season (airing 2028-2029). With nearly 790 episodes, the series has left its mark on generations thanks to its special episodes, pop culture parodies and consistently sharp satirical humor.
As a reminder, the first film, directed by David Silverman, quarantined Springfield under a glass dome after Homer contaminated the local river, triggering a wild manhunt. This sequel promises just as many gags, absurd situations and, of course, XXL donuts for fans of the world's most famous yellow family.
Mark your calendars: on July 23, 2027, Springfield invades theaters and Homer resumes his legendary gaffes. D'oh!
