Colony, Sang-ho Yeon's new horror film (Train to Busan), will have a midnight screening at the Cannes Film Festival 2026.

The Cannes Film Festival 2026 is fast approaching, and the official selection has something to satisfy every cinephile's cravings. For those drawn to genre cinema, the midnight screenings are, year after year, a must-see to discover works that push beyond the beaten track.

These late-evening screenings hold a special place at the festival and are, in fact, often associated with works that stand out for their originality. For this year's edition, scheduled to run from May 12 to 23, Sang-ho Yeon's latest film, Colony, will be shown in this nocturnal frame.

If the name of this South Korean director isn’t unfamiliar to you, it’s probably because you’ve seen his film Train to Busan, which, incidentally, premiered in Cannes at a midnight screening in 2016. Before that, he had walked the red carpet at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes with an animated feature, The King of Pigs.

Synopsis : In a downtown Seoul skyscraper, a sudden, mysterious outbreak sweeps through the building. The place is sealed off and everyone inside is trapped. At first, the infected crawl like beasts. Then, gradually, they start to evolve…
