Since time immemorial, two races of alien robots have been engaged in a merciless war: the Autobots and the Decepticons. Their conflict reaches Earth at the beginning of the 21st century. Sam Witwicky, an ordinary teenager, unwittingly becomes humanity's last hope when he finds himself at the center of the conflict between the two enemy camps.
Alongside his girlfriend Mikaela, Sam discovers that his destiny is linked to that of these mechanical creatures capable of transforming themselves. Between titanic battles and unlikely alliances, he learns that "without sacrifice, there is no victory."
Produced by Steven Spielberg and Lorenzo di Bonaventura for Paramount Pictures and Hasbro, the film combines cutting-edge digital special effects with explosive action sequences. The international success of the first installment gave rise to a franchise of several sequels, spin-offs, and reboots. The 4K version was re-released in 2009. Steve Jablonsky's music and Mitchell Amundsen's cinematography helped define the spectacular aesthetic of the saga.
