Released in cinemas in October 2015, the comedy Les Nouvelles Aventures d'Aladin arrives on Netflix on August 16, 2025. Directed by Arthur Benzaquen and written by Daive Cohen, the film stars Kev Adams in a parodic, modern retelling of the famous oriental tale. He is joined by Jean-Paul Rouve, Vanessa Guide and William Lebghil in a story punctuated by anachronisms, pop culture winks and absurdist humor. A blend of Arabian Nights and contemporary comedy, the film is aimed above all at teenage and family audiences.
Kev Adams' first big-screen success, Les Nouvelles Aventures d'Aladin (The New Adventures of Aladdin) combines visual effects, kitsch costumes and cascading gags in a whimsical, offbeat universe.
The New Adventures of Aladdin will be available on Netflix from August 16, 2025.
Synopsis: On Christmas Eve, Sam and his best pal Khalid disguise themselves as Santa Claus to steal whatever they can from Galeries Lafayette. But Sam is soon cornered by some children and has to tell them a story... the story of Aladdin... or at least his version of it. As Aladdin, Sam embarks on a journey to the heart of Baghdad, a city of a thousand and one riches... Alas, behind the folklore, the people suffer the tyranny of the terrible Vizier, known for his ferocity and dubious breath. Can Aladdin the young thief, aided by his Genie, foil the Vizier's diabolical plans, save Khalid and win the heart of Princess Shallia? Well, yes, but we're not going to lie to you - it's not going to be easy!
Les Nouvelles Aventures d'Aladin adopts a deliberately parodic tone, hijacking the codes of the classic tale through a modern narrative, punctuated by topical jokes, cinematic references and anachronistic dialogue. The story alternates between a contemporary setting (Galeries Lafayette at Christmas) and a kitsch recreation of Aladdin's imaginary Baghdad. This play on mise en abyme allows the film to multiply its tonal shifts, halfway between family show and slapstick comedy.
Revealed in the SODA series, Kev Adams plays a 2015 version of Aladin: clumsy, talkative, a seducer in spite of himself. His performance relies on constant energy, a teenage comic style and a self-assumed sense of self-mockery. The film features him in a succession of spectacular scenes, including chases, fights, singing numbers and deliberately garish special effects. The overall tone remains light, with humor accessible to a wide audience.
The artistic direction focuses on the visual spectacular: oriental sets, extravagant costumes, an exuberant genie, an enchanted palace... All in a cartoonish style, verging on caricature. The story stays true to the main lines of the Aladdin myth while injecting modern elements and contemporary dialogue, reinforcing the contrast between eras to generate absurd situations.
Les Nouvelles Aventures d'Aladin is a French comedy directed by Arthur Benzaquen, released in 2015. Starring Kev Adams, Jean-Paul Rouve and Vanessa Guide, the film offers a parodic retelling of the famous tale of the Thousand and One Nights, blending modern humor, colorful visuals and contemporary references. It will be available on Netflix from August 16, 2025.
