OFFICIALLY CLOSED - When escape rooms challenge players to reflect on the impacts of climate change... the result is 2050, the latest offering at Le Triangle Escape Game. This escape venue, located in the 8th arrondissement just steps from Place de la Madeleine, occupies the former Le Temple maya room. Opened on October 1, 2022, it retains the original set design but completely reimagines the puzzles, inviting players who have already experienced Le Temple maya to come back for a fresh, new adventure.
The storyline of this adventure, in detail, goes like this: In the year 2050, the environmental crisis has reached catastrophic levels. Natural disasters, famine, loss of biodiversity, and geopolitical tensions are rampant. In 2022, a team of scientists believed they had discovered a breakthrough: a new, totally unknown clean energy source. This energy could save the Earth, but if it falls into the wrong hands, it could become an unrivaled weapon with devastating power. Their research led them to an ancient temple… However, just weeks after their departure, they vanished without a trace. Today, the situation is far too urgent. You must investigate this mysterious energy and retrieve it if it truly exists. We’re counting on you.
We had the chance to try out a new escape room... and it's a world apart from the Maya Temple you may have played just a few days before the first lockdown. In terms of design, the different rooms have been completely revamped and differ quite a bit from the previous version, all to better fit the fresh storyline being told.
Regarding the story, the eco-friendly approach becomes all the more striking because it's highly relevant today. This escape room cleverly uses that "pretext," along with its puzzles, to prompt players to reflect on the impacts of climate change and consider what actions—if any—we can take to address it. It's worth noting that all the data provided, both in the introductory video and within the game’s documents, comes from the latest report by the IPCC. This ensures that players are engaging with accurate, real-world information to better raise awareness about the climate crisis.
Otherwise, beyond the challenge of some of the puzzles, this room—designed specifically for intermediate and expert players—immerses you completely. The sets are so realistic they feel almost life-like, and the adherence to scientific accuracy adds an extra layer of authenticity. There are even some surprises in store on the puzzle front, but we’ll leave the details a mystery!
On the other hand, one thing to keep in mind: don't worry about running out of time, as the room doesn’t have a timer. Of course, we’ll assist you in leaving if you stay over an hour and a half, but if you finish a little later—say, just past the 60-minute mark—that’s perfectly fine. The main goal is to allow you to complete the challenge at your own pace, all with the aim of raising awareness about environmental issues.
Set off on your adventure without hesitation—though perhaps after tackling a few rooms first—and ponder: would you prioritize saving humanity or the planet itself? Ready to reserve your session, friends?
