Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the narrative action game from Skydance New Media featuring Captain America and Black Panther, has been delayed once again. Expected to immerse players in 1940s Paris during World War II, the title will now not be released until later in 2026, with no specific release window. Here's an update!

It's a tough blow for superhero fans: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the narrative action game developed by Skydance New Mediaunder the directionof Amy Hennig (known for the Uncharted saga), has just been postponed once again. Originally expected inearly 2026, the studio has now announced a delay beyond that date, without giving a specific new release window. This delay further prolongs a development process that has already been marked by very discreet communication since its announcement in September 2022 at the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase.

In an official statement, the studio explains that it wantsto"deliver unforgettable, high-end games" and guarantee a level of quality that lives up to the Marvel universe. "Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring that it meets the quality expectations of our team, players, and fans. In order to fully realize our vision, we have made the decision to push the release date beyond early 2026," Skydance Media said in a post on X. The studio added that it thanks the community for its patience, promising new information "as development progresses."

Rare communication since the game's announcement

Since its initial presentation, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been particularly quiet. The title was originally scheduled for release in late 2025, as revealed by Khary Payton, voice actor for Black Panther, before being pushed back for the first time to early 2026. The actor described the game as a cinematic experience: "We want people to play this game and for the whole family to watch it like a series, similar to Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead," he explained in an interview with TheDirect. He also specified that players would not be "sitting in a café in Paris," promising a dynamic adventure in the capital of the 1940s.

Set during World War II, the game will allow players to take on the roles of four characters: Captain America, Azzuri (T'Challa's grandfather and Black Panther at the time), Nanali, a member of the Dora Milaje, and Gabriel Jones, a soldier in the Howling Commandos. Together, they will face Hydra, the Nazi organization led by Red Skull. Inspired by the comic book Flags of Our Fathers, the title promises cinematic staging supported by the power ofUnreal Engine 5.
