Had you caught wind of Vuitton’s plans? For some time, rumors had been swirling along the pavements of the Champs-Élysées: after the opening of the Bulgari in Paris, Louis Vuitton was also preparing to open its first hotel. But Bernard Arnault has set the record straight: the Maison will not be going into the hotel business. Even so, new details are emerging from behind the giant trunk: ultra-VIP rooms, a restaurant, a club and surprising staging... This project seems to have more than one trick up its sleeve!
Reopenings, future projects, the next big things to come in Paris and the Île-de-France region
What's next for the Paris region? New zones at Disneyland, the reopening of long-awaited monuments, major construction projects and new venues: these are the projects to keep a close eye on in Paris and the Île-de-France region. [Read more]
The setting? An Art Deco building with quite a history, built at the initiative of the Compagnie des Wagons-Lits for the 1900 World’s Fair, before becoming HSBC’s Paris headquarters for two decades. After an oversized Dior-branded canvas gave the impression that a new flagship was on the way, it is ultimately Louis Vuitton that is preparing to move into 103–111 avenue des Champs-Élysées. Entrusted to architecture firm Barthélémy Griño, the project is expected to span nearly 6,000 square meters and open in 2027, though no date has been officially confirmed. The new address is expected to take the form of a major brand destination centered on the world of LV, with retail spaces, exhibitions and dining.
On the dining front, rumors suggest plans are underway for a two-level restaurant, possibly with a rooftop terrace. No details have yet emerged about the chef or the menu, but this future dining destination would build on the gastronomic experiences Louis Vuitton has already developed, notably at LV Dream. Another detail that’s sure to take your breath away: a setting inspired by a hot-air balloon is also being considered, although it’s not yet known where it would be located. A nod to the art of travel, so dear to the House.
While Vuitton won’t be opening a hotel, a select few may still be able to spend the night there. According to the latest rumors, seven ultra-VIP rooms are planned for a handful of hand-picked clients. More like discreet suites than a traditional luxury hotel, then. No pool is planned.
Another detail: a club could also be part of the project. It remains to be seen in what form and for which clientele. For now, none of this has been confirmed by the House.
After gastronomy and exhibitions, Louis Vuitton is about to write a new chapter on the Champs-Élysées. Not a hotel, then, but a supersized destination devoted to the art of travel and the Maison’s savoir-faire. The suitcases are packed (though not necessarily for an overnight stay)!
