Twenty-five collections, a wildly imaginative Japanese designer, and Sarah Andelman’s stamp: from October 2 to 5, 2026, the free exhibition JUST AN REAL AGE at Galerie Perrotin will revisit the universe of ANREALAGE.

A name to read twice to catch the wink: JUST AN REAL AGE crosses JUST AN IDEA, the collaboration between Sarah Andelman and ANREALAGE, the Tokyo-based label founded by Kunihiko Morinaga. The free exhibition, staged at Galerie Perrotin from October 2 to 5, 2026, revisits the 25 collections shown in Paris by the House, from SHADOW, Spring–Summer 2015, through to SKIN, unveiled for Spring–Summer 2027. In other words, eleven years of silhouettes, fabrics, and ideas gathered under one roof.

At ANREALAGE, experimentation is part of the house vocabulary. The label loves to push the boundaries between craft, material, light and innovation, even if it means the garment changes right before your eyes. For SKIN, some pieces incorporate the E Ink Prism technology, with elements in electronic paper capable of shifting color. A few of these creations seen during Fashion Week made their way to Rue de Turenne.

The tour doesn’t stop at the pieces on display. A first, more educational space revisits the use of certain fabrics and materials used across the collections. Visitors can even handle several samples, a hands-on moment that turns theory into material reality.

Further on, the mood shifts. A projection room plunged into darkness casts the runways, as several models visually come to life under the glare of light. At the pace of programmed electronic sequences, colors and patterns evolve, revealing the brand’s full taste for metamorphosis.

The exhibition then branches into two immersive spaces in sequence, entirely wrapped from floor to ceiling in white plastic sheeting. A fashion-lab vibe, but without lab coats. In the first, don’t miss the mechanical arm that springs into action when a long white faux-fur coat reaches its height. It then appears to color progressively in pink.

The second room leans more into movement and optical effects. Three-dimensional dresses whirl, creating color variations as they rotate. A few metres away, other models clad in screen-scales come to life according to a precise electronic programme.

25 collections and a well-curated pop-up shop

Sarah Andelman clearly adds her touch with a shop built around the 26 letters of the alphabet. Each letter becomes the pretext for an object, a collaboration, or a find, with a few ANREALAGE ready-to-wear pieces as well. The shop section remains fairly small and functions more as a punctuation mark in the visit than a full-fledged shopping destination. But just a few square meters are enough here to whet curiosity.

The V in “Vinyl” is well worth a detour: the record SONGS FOR ANREALAGE brings together two tracks composed by Thomas Bangalter for the Autumn–Winter 2025 SCREEN collection and the Spring–Summer 2026 line, the latter created with HERALBONY. Fashion, music, graphics: the project spills beyond the wardrobe.

The whole thing bears the stamp of Sarah Andelman and JUST AN IDEA, between collaborations, editions and designers with singular universes. JUST AN REAL AGE will mainly appeal to fans of avant-garde, contemporary design, and technologies applied to clothing, but also to the curious. Even families can easily get drawn in.

On the other hand, if your heart only beats for classic tailoring or traditional drape, you might find yourself searching for your bearings. Here, fabric talks to electronics, dresses change their look, and machines join the dance. ANREALAGE clearly aims to push beyond the conventional frame.
