From June 2 to 4, 2023, the Bibliothèque nationale de France celebrates literature aloud, with its festival "La Bibliothèque Parlante", around the theme of nature.

The Bibliothèque nationale de France is a veritable temple of Parisian literature, heir to the royal bookshop initiated by Charles V in 1380 with 900 manuscripts. The BnF is the capital's most important place for researchers and students, and is offering a sixth edition of its festival La Bibliothèque Parlante, which promotes reading aloud during events and poetic walks.

A way to make books speak and reveal all their secrets, thanks to authors, actors and singers who will have the hard task of bringing to life works, especially classics, around the theme of nature and the elements. From June 2 to 4, 2023, Pierre Richard, Anna Mouglalis or Jean-Pierre Darroussin will read texts by Colette, Zola, Verne, Lafon, Pfeifer... in the heart of the forest garden and the library.

List of texts read during the festival

  • Dialogues de bêtes, by Colette
  • The sources, by Marie-Hélène Lafon
  • The Metamorphoses, by Ovid
  • Ma tête à couper, une puritaine chez les cannibales, by Ida Pfeifer
