For its seventh edition, the Effractions Festival, previously hosted by the Public Library of Information at the Centre Pompidou, is making a comeback at the Gaité Lyrique. This change comes as the museum undergoes renovations. The event spotlight’s contemporary literature and its connection to reality, focusing on themes of engagement and societal issues such as war, environmental concerns, and social struggles. From February 18 to 22, 2026, visitors will have the chance to attend discussions, workshops, and performances, gaining insight into how authors explore and interpret reality through their work.
This year, the festival welcomes some forty authors, providing an opportunity to debate with these writers of engaged literature, drama, literary journalism, poetry or slam, as well as the way in which they seize on a real element to create powerful works of fiction that challenge, through a variety of formats: round tables, meetings, readings, debates, workshops, major interviews, sound creations, podcasts, book signings...
The program offers the curious the chance to discover these writers through special events, which everyone can attend free of charge. In"Collusion", an author dialogues with a specialist on the central theme of his or her work; in"Regards Croisés", several authors discuss a topical theme that has inspired their text; "La revue de presse de l'écrivain" observes the author's relationship with current events and the press;"À voix haute" brings texts to life through readings in one or two voices; and"Chantier de fouille" analyzes the role of documentation in writing.
Additional partners will also host meetings and workshops, including the Palais de la Porte Dorée, the Centre Wallonie Bruxelles, the Arthur Rimbaud Library, as well as the House of Poetry.
