The National Maritime Museum of Paris is once again hosting La Grande Marée, the Sea and Sailors Festival, dedicated to uncovering the secrets of the ocean. Since they cover 70% of the Earth's surface, rivers and seas remain largely mysterious and eager to reveal their mysteries. This fascinating event will take place from March 20 to 22, 2026, and is free to the public, while places last.
And the "Great Tide" lives up to its name, as the festival's date was clearly chosen with intention. On March 21st, we’ll experience one of the highest tide coefficients of the year 2026 along the French coast: 104. Photographers, divers, sailors, explorers, oceanographers, activists, and other specialists from this world will share their passions and discoveries, opening up their worlds to the public—whether it's oceans, rivers, glaciers, or wetlands they have explored.
Over three days, women and men from the sea and beyond will share their journeys, adventures, and discoveries about this blue planet through documentaries, book excerpts, sounds, and more. They will also showcase exhibitions designed to inform and raise awareness about this vital element that sustains us all.
