The Madras Day is making its highly anticipated return on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Espace Chevreul in Nanterre. Just a short distance from the La Défense district, this event will celebrate Caribbean creativity with a full day of vibrant activities. From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the lively world of madras, the iconic fabric rich with stories and cultural significance.
Born in the Indian city of Madras, this lightweight cotton with colorful checks traveled across oceans to become a staple in the Caribbean as early as the 18th century. Over time, it has evolved into a powerful cultural symbol, embodying heritage, identity, and creativity. Yet, it remains true to its original purpose: a vibrant textile perfectly suited to tropical climates and modern-day uses.
For its 13th edition, Madras Day brings together more than 30 designers who are reimagining madras through fashion and accessories. The day will be lively with a DJ spinning energetic tunes, creating a warm and festive atmosphere, while an exhibition of original paintings, inspired by madras textiles, will add an artistic touch to the event.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive sale of madras fabrics, a Caribbean-style food court, and a dedicated photo booth designed to capture your best look in madras.
Once a year, the Madras Day offers a special opportunity to explore, shop, get inspired, celebrate, and showcase a fabric that has become a symbol of Caribbean culture.
Limited spots – a must-attend cultural event you won't want to miss.
