While the Tour de France won't be passing through the Île-de-France region in 2024 because of the Olympic Games, the Paris-Nice cycle race is doing us the honor of crossing the Yvelines, for its 82nd edition, which kicks off on March 3, 2024! The grand departure will take place in the town of Les Mureaux, next to the Château de Bècheville, for the first stage, and the second will start in Thoiry, near its famous zoo. A real treat for professional cycling fans!
The"Course au Soleil", organized by Amaury Sport Organisation and created in 1933, will transform the region for a few days to celebrate cycling as it should be, with free entertainment for the whole family. On Sunday, March 3, 2024, the public will have free access to watch the riders pass through Les Mureaux three times during the stage. The Château de Bècheville, known to literary enthusiasts as the inspiration for Stendhal's novel"Le Rouge et le Noir", is the town's proud starting and finishing point.
For this first stage, the peloton will have to cover 157 km around Les Mureaux, passing through Septeuil and Montfort-l'Amaury, with the first difficulties on the Bazemont and Herbeville climbs. The following day, the race, won in 2023 by Tadej Pogačar, closely followed by Frenchman David Gaudu who should be there again, will start in Thoiry, in front of the castle and the famous zoo. After tackling the Côte des Mesnuls and crossing the Vallée de Chevreuse, they will leave the département at Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines and head for the Loiret.
