In Rambouillet, on the first Saturday of October, every other year, residents don their old-fashioned outfits for Saint-Lubin. An immersion into the farming world of days gone by, with streets strewn with straw and a grand cattle market.
Each edition of the Fête de Saint-Lubin invites Rambolitains and other visitors to step into a specific era. This year, we travel back to the Early Middle Ages, 622–987 (i.e., the 7th to the 10th century). Beyond immersive time travel, the festival’s flagship events are on the program for every edition: a parade in period costume, a livestock market bringing together oxen, sheep, and draught horses… as well as numerous activities, including notably horseback rides or others, aboard ox-drawn carts. The public is invited to participate in this grand festive day and to make the local history their own by dressing up and taking part in the main parade.
The Saint-Lubin Festival is free and open to everyone: meet in Rambouillet, in the Yvelines department, this Saturday, October 3 to attend!
