Another 39th Victoires de la Musique! This Friday, February 9, 2024, several French-speaking artists will have the chance to walk away with one or more trophies under their arm. Nominees, who will sing, honorary president, honorary trophy... Here's everything you need to know about the 39th Victoires de la Musique ceremony.

It's an event eagerly awaited by many singers. Every winter, for 39 years now, the industry has been handing out awards to artists from the world of variety music.

The Victoires de la Musique were first held in 1985, at the instigation of Claude Fléouter, Denys Limon and Pascale Tardy, and the then Minister of Culture and Communication, Jack Lang. That same year, Jeanne Mas won the Female Performer of the Year award, while Michel Jonasz took the Male Performer prize. In subsequent years, Catherine Lara, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Johnny Hallyday, France Gall, Mylène Farmer, Vanessa Paradis, Patrick Bruel, Alain Bashung, -M-, Renaud, Zazie, Florent Pagny , Benjamin Biolay and Pomme all won prizes.

This year, the Victoires de la Musique celebrate their 39th anniversary! Presented by Léa Salamé and Cyril Féraud, the ceremony will be broadcast live on France 2 and France Inter this Friday, February 9, 2024 from 9:10pm.

As in previous years, the evening will be punctuated by a number of live performances by most of the nominees. As for the nominees, the Victoires de la Musique 2024 are betting on eclecticism, with award-winning artists such as Véronique Sanson and Etienne Daho, as well as young talents like Gazo and Clara Ysé. On the other hand, there's plenty of suspense on the revelations front, with Zaho de Sagazan, who topped the nominations, Meryl, Adèle Castillon, Nuit Incolore, Aime Simone, Yamê and Julien Granel all competing.

For the rest of the evening, the Victoires de la Musique also plans to award a trophy of honor to a major French chanson artist. Zazie, who has already won awards at the Victoires de la Musique, notably in 1998 and 2002, has been named Honorary President of this 39th ceremony. Nominees, who will sing, honorary trophy, honorary president... here's everything you need to know about the Victoires de la Musique 2024.
