Angine de Poitrine, the offbeat Quebecois duo, in concert at the Élysée Montmartre in Paris in October 2026

Do you know Angine de Poitrine? If not yet, get ready to meet a duo with a truly offbeat musical sensibility. Hailing from Saguenay, Quebec, the duo formed in 2019 around 'Khn de Poitrine' (guitar, bass, and microtonal instruments) and 'Klek de Poitrine' (drums), billed as the brothers of Poitrine. Their style? Experimental rock fused with microtonal music, resulting in what they call the 'Orchestre Mantra-Rock Dada Pythago-Cubiste.'

Producing mostly instrumental pieces, Angine de Poitrine also stands out for its live performances and stage wardrobe. The duo wears oversized papier-mâché masks and seems to harbor an insatiable fondness for polka dots, in the vein of contemporary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Consequently, the two musicians even go so far as to paint black-and-white polka dots on their hands, and even their feet for 'Khn de Poitrine'.

Result? For several months, Angine de Poitrine has been steadily raising its profile across North America and Europe. Today the group, which aims to prioritize independent development of its project, boasts two studio albums to its name, "Vol. 1" released in 2024 and "Vol. II", due out on April 3, 2026. On the live front, the duo has a string of concerts lined up in France this spring, including in Strasbourg, Rennes, Le Mans, Amiens, Poitiers, and La Rochelle.
