Dernier coup de ciseaux, an interactive detective comedy written by Paul Portner and adapted by Sébastien Azzopardi and Sacha Danino, has been extended at the Théâtre des Mathurins until June 30, 2026. A true phenomenon of contemporary theater, the play is celebrating its fourteenth season in Paris, with more than 3,800 performances and one million spectators.
Created in 2011, the play received the Molière Award for Best Comedy in 2014. Adapted from an American hit, it is considered one of the pioneers of interactive theater. The concept: every evening, a murder is committed in a hair salon, and it is up to the audience to investigate and unmask the culprit.
Directed by Sébastien Azzopardi, Dernier coup de ciseaux stands out for its participatory format inspired by Cluedo and escape games. Audience members become detectives in the plot, influencing the course of the show with their deductions. This direct interaction, at the heart of the staging, renews the traditional theatrical experience.
The cast includes Domitille Bioret or Marie-France Santon, Thierry Lanckriet or Romain Tomas, Jean-Marie Rollin or Pierre Samuel, Elisa Azé, Hélène Degy or Alizée Costes, Richard Delestre or Mathias Bord, and Laurent Hugny or Cyril Garnier. The sets are designed by Juliette Azzopardi, the lighting by Philippe Lacombe, the costumes by Pauline Gallot, and the sound design by Julien Dauplais.
An international success, the play has attracted more than 9 million spectators worldwide and holds a Guinness World Record for longevity in the United States. Also voted "Best Completely Crazy Comedy" by Billet Réduc audiences in 2023, Dernier coup de ciseaux remains a sure bet on the Paris interactive scene.
The show can be seen at the Théâtre des Mathurins until June 30, 2026.
