The Théâtre Lepic presents Dessiner encore, a theatrical adaptation of Coco's work, from January 31, 2026. Inspired by the comic strip published after the Charlie Hebdo attacks, the show traces the cartoonist's journey through an intimate story, performed by three actors. Georges Vauraz's staging seeks to convey the artist's reconstruction, between pain, humor, and creative force, at the heart of the Parisian scene.
The story follows Corinne, alias Coco, who was marked for life by the attack on January 7, 2015. The adaptation by Hélène Degy and Salomé Villiers explores the moment of trauma, then the aftermath, filled with lingering questions: could she have acted differently, understood, alerted someone? The show recreates this suspended moment and its repercussions, drawing on a poetic narrative that combines personal testimony and artistic insight. It is a journey in which the author questions her own resilience and the possible paths to continue creating.
On stage, Hélène Degy, Anna Mihalcea, and Salomé Villiers embody the character of Coco with three voices, giving a choral dimension to this inner narrative. Together, they evoke the wounds, but also the bursts of life, the formative encounters, and the moments of sharing within the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo. The staging highlights a sensitive approach to the creative process, supported by a visual and audio device that combines video, music, and a set design designed to accompany the character's emotional states.
Video creations by Valentine Boidron and Eloi Février, lighting by Denis Koransky, and music composed by Valentin Marinelli and Clément Barbier structure a dreamlike universe that accompanies the show's introspective journey. Emma Pasquer's choreography adds an extra layer of expression, while Georges Vauraz's set design creates a space of evocation, between memory, traces, and rebirth. This multidisciplinary approach helps to establish the play as a live performance that highlights the role of art in the process of reconstruction.
Co-produced by Théâtre Lepic, Atelier Théâtre Actuel, Théâtre des Béliers, Prismo Production, In Fine Capital, and Red Velvet, the show appeals to a wide audience thanks to its accessible writing and staging that combines intensity and modesty. Through this sincere narrative, the play pays tribute to press cartoons, artistic freedom, and the power of creative expression in a context where expression becomes an act of resistance. The show can be seen at the Théâtre Lepic starting January 31, 2026.
