Founded in 1975 by a group of young actors including Gérard Lanvin and Anémone, the theater was initially called La veuve Pichard. On April 24, 1978, actor Christian Varini took over the reins and Le Point Virgule was born. Following his death, Marie-Caroline Burnat took over management of the theater in 1993. The theater welcomed a number of initially little-known comedy talents, such as Florence Foresti, Elie Kakou, Laurent Ruquier, Jerôme Daran, Olivier de Benoist... Le Point Virgule finally changed management in 2005, with Jean-Marc Dumontet at the helm, who considers the theater "the smallest of the big Parisian theaters".
