A true master of vaudeville, Feydeau is one of France's leading playwrights. This year, the Odéon -Théâtre de l'Europe, in Paris's 6th arrondissement, produces L'Hôtel du Libre-Échange, directed by Stanislas Nordey, from May 6 to June 13, 2025. Tickets will go on sale soon.
A three-actvaudeville written by Georges Feydeau in collaboration with Maurice Desvallières , L'Hôtel du Libre-Échange premiered in 1894. The plot, typical of the boulevard theater that was all the rage in Paris, is based on misunderstandings, incredible situations and irresistible humor.
The vaudeville revolves around two bourgeois couples and the extramarital adventures that take place in a hotel with an evocative name. Between misunderstandings, slamming doors and lively dialogue, L'Hôtel du Libre-Échange explores society's shortcomings with lightness and irony, directed by Stanislas Nordey, who also staged Feydeau 'sPuce à l'oreille in Paris.
