La Zone Indigo: a futuristic thriller at the Théâtre des Béliers Parisiens

The Théâtre des Béliers Parisiens presents La Zone Indigo, a new creation written and directed by Mélody Mourey, an author and director who has already made a name for herself with Les Crapauds Fous, La Course des Géants, and Big Mother. The play takes the form of a futuristic thriller set in a France that has become totalitarian, and follows a group of researchers faced with decisive choices. Featuring a cast of six performers, the production is scheduled to open on January 30, 2026.

The plot begins when a sperm whale equipped with recording devices washes up on the Atlantic coast. Cleo Marson, a bioacoustician, is tasked with analyzing this unusual discovery alongside her team. The investigation gradually reveals traces of an espionage attempt, the origin of which remains undetermined. As their investigations progress, the researchers realize that what they are uncovering could lead them to leave their country, disrupt the geopolitical order, and expose millions of people to imminent danger. The play explores the tensions between loyalty, resistance, and survival in a closed and monitored political environment.

Mélody Mourey's staging is based on a rhythmic narrative inspired by the codes of cinema and science fiction, articulating scenes of investigation, moments of confrontation, and more intimate sequences centered on the protagonists' dilemmas. The show mobilizes the resources of live performance to represent both the scientific dimension of the story and the pressure of an authoritarian regime. The stage design highlights the research spaces, technological devices, and elements related to the marine environment, offering an immersive setting without breaking with a realistic approach.

The cast includes Azad Boutella, Ariane Brousse, Guillaume Ducreux, Olivier Faliez, Marie Montoya, and Lara Tavella. The actors play the members of the scientific team in charge of the investigation, each confronted with their own motivations and questions about the implications of their discoveries. The script, which focuses on contemporary issues of surveillance, data, and ecology, places the play within a reflection on the possible excesses of an authoritarian state, while developing a fictional plot centered on collaboration, doubt, and responsibility.

With this new creation, Mélody Mourey continues in the vein of her previous shows, combining dynamic storytelling, societal themes, and a popular approach to speculative theater. La Zone Indigo thus fits into the Parisian scene of the 2026 season, offering fiction accessible to a wide audience, centered on questions related to science, politics, and individual choices in times of crisis.
