Art lovers are in heaven. Paris+ by Art Basel, the major contemporary art fair that succeeds the legendary FIAC, is coming to Paris for the second time. In addition to this major artistic event to be discovered at the Grand Palais Éphémère, art lovers can also feast their eyes on a number of off-site exhibitions and events.
For a few days or a few weeks, several of the capital's key sites will host works by French and international contemporary artists. The Tuileries Gardens, Place Vendôme, the Centre Pompidou... It's a veritable artistic circuit awaiting us! And this Parisian itinerary includes the Palais d'Iéna, in the 16th arrondissement, which is once again hosting a brand-new installation this year.
For Paris+ by Art Basel, French artist Daniel Buren and Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto let their inspiration do the talking, working four-handed. From October 18 to 31, 2023, the two artists invite us to come and admire their creation, which highlights the Palais d'Iéna, built in 1937 by Auguste Perret .
The installation sublimates this architectural jewel, while at the same time breaking its codes. Light, perspective, play on levels, symmetry: the work plays with its environment, dialoguing with volumes. " I like the idea that the solemnity of architecture can be shaken up by the combined interventions of Pistoletto and Buren, that the works invite visitors to experiment together, to see each other and even to engage in dialogue," explains exhibition curator Matthieu Poirier.
Two of the world's leading contemporary artists join forces for an original creation. To be seen and seen again, free of charge, during the second half of October.
